Editor’s note: The city of Yonkers provided municipal employee salary information for 2007, including details on overtime, retroactive pay, holiday pay, stipends and numerous other pay categories.
The 2008 salary information covers current annual salaries (including longevity pay) or hourly rates, depending on the employee’s work status.
The salary information also contains a listing for employment status – active, disability, retirement and terminated. City officials said “termination” means an employee has left the payroll for any number of reasons, such as retirement, resignation, firing, etc.
One police employee – Debra Sorano – was listed as earning a regular salary of $180,060.55 in 2007 because she won a court battle that included retroactive pay. For that reason, her base salary ranked higher than Mayor Philip Amicone. Sorano’s actual base salary was $78,656 in 2007.
All other salary details, including gross pay, were calculated by city officials.
